What is the process of designing a custom website?

The process of designing and developing a search engine optimized website begins with gathering as much information as I can about you and your business. It is important to define the goals, industry and target audience of the website. Once I have an understanding of your vision and needs, and I’ve done some research on your business industry, we can then discuss the overall content to be included in the website.

After the content of the site has been determined, I will come up with a “mockup image" representing what the website design could potentially look like when constructed. After receiving feedback from you and making any needed revisions, I will begin construction of the website. I build all my sites using CSS based layouts which are built using proper site architecture to influence the flow of traffic (search engine optimization). During the construction you will have the ample opportunity to review my work, request changes, and approve it.

Why Use CSS Based Layouts?

• CSS is short for Cascading Style Sheets. CSS is a set of styles or rules used to define how a webpage, website, or a particular XHTML element is formatted.
• CSS based layouts require less code on a webpage, which means loading times are decreased.
• CSS styles can be embedded into individual web pages or included from external CSS style sheets. A single Cascading Style Sheet can be used on multiple pages. This means once the browser has read the style sheet it’s cached and doesn't need to be reloaded again, thus web pages load faster.
• By applying a single Cascading Style Sheet to multiple pages, changes for all associated pages can be made in one place which makes editing easier and more efficient.
• The biggest advantage of using a CSS based website is the ability to manipulate page elements through the use of JavaScript. The term used to describe this is DHTML (Dynamic HTML). Thanks to the W3C's creation of the Document Object Model (DOM), by using JavaScript every aspect of a websites appearance can be instantly change without the page having to reload.

If you need to have your web site updated but don't want the burden of hiring a full-time webmaster, I can help you. If you prefer I will gladly train you to perform self-maintenance.

Policy prevents me from offering web maintenance services on websites I did not create.

What's the turnaround time? Though I do not guarantee a 24 hour turnaround time, I do strive to meet that mark for basic content updates. If I am unable to make your changes within 24 hours I will notify you.
